Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, the New Milford Board of Education will require a $75 yearly activity fee for any child, grades 9 through 12, who will be participating in organized sports and/or extra-curricular activities in which coaches, advisors, after hours facilities, and transportation are involved. The $75 fee entitles a student to participate in four (4) clubs/extra-curricular activities and one (1) sport. Participation in additional sports and clubs will require an additional fee of $50 per activity, up to a maximum yearly fee of $150.
Reductions in state aid and the school budget have made it difficult to continue to fund the large number of programs currently offered. This fee was implemented in order to support the variety of co-curricular programs available to New
Milford students. The New Milford School District believes in the value of these programs, from expanded learning opportunities to strengthening mind and body. Co-curricular activities build confidence and compassion, friendship and teamwork, and enhance academic performance.
